New England Patriots star, Stefon Diggs, has spoken publicly for the first time following the legal controversy surrounding him.
The NFL wide receiver is currently facing serious allegations after his former personal chef accused him of slapping and attempting to choke her during a dispute over unpaid wages. The claims have resulted in charges of assault and strangulation against the 32-year-old athlete, who is also known for dating rapper Cardi B.
Addressing reporters during a press conference on Friday, Stefon Diggs kept his remarks brief, citing the ongoing legal process as the reason for his restraint.
“I want to say I’m sorry I wasn’t available for those couple of days, it was a different kind of time, dealing with everything, but it’s definitely an open case, so I can’t even say anything about it,” he said.
Diggs made it clear he would not answer questions related to the allegations, stating that he was only open to football-related discussions and wanted to remain respectful.
“I will be open to any football questions, anything you want to know. I don’t want to be rude or disrespectful in any way, so if anybody’s going to ask me a question pertaining to it, I’m just obviously going to be like, look,” he added.
When asked about maintaining focus during the season amid personal challenges, Stefon Diggs acknowledged the difficulty but emphasized team unity and resilience.
“We all deal with life stuff, family stuff… being a football team is hard. We band together, you lean on your brothers,” he said, noting that he remains determined to stay positive and keep moving forward despite the situation.
