Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, has sparked widespread debate on social media after her comments about friendship and personal growth.
The influencer, who previously went viral after criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration during her time as a corps member, is once again trending for her latest remarks.
In a post shared on X, Raye wrote:
“If you want to go on vacation and you can’t look around your circle and confidently say, ‘Let’s book this flight,’ then you’re either in the wrong circle or you haven’t elevated your friends yet. Either way, it’s time to level up your friends, grow them or get new friends.”
Her statement quickly drew mixed reactions from followers, with many questioning the practicality of expecting friends to always be at the same financial or social level.
Responding to criticism, Raye defended her position, saying it is important to surround oneself with people who align with one’s current goals and direction.
“It’s best you find friends that align with your new direction,” she wrote, adding that one should also try to uplift old friends “in your own way” where possible.
