Violence broke out at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday, as the lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, was reportedly attacked by armed men.

The disruption occurred at Ovade, the designated venue for the congress in Ethiope-West. According to reports, multiple individuals sustained injuries during the chaotic incident.

Sources revealed that the unrest began shortly after Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Governor James Ibori, arrived at the venue. The federal legislator and her supporters were allegedly confronted by gunmen and other attackers wielding dangerous weapons.

The assailants reportedly attempted to prevent her from gaining access to the congress venue. However, her security personnel intervened, successfully repelling the attack.

In the aftermath of the incident, Ibori-Suenu has appealed for calm among APC supporters across the state.
