Nigerian singer Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, has opened up about the challenges he faced in the early days of his music career.
In an interview with Famous TV, the Sungba crooner revealed that some show promoters initially turned him down because he performed mainly in Yoruba.
Reflecting on the experience, the singer said he is grateful he remained true to his sound rather than changing his style to fit expectations. According to Asake , staying consistent and believing in himself played a major role in his success.
Asake explained that although many people rejected him at certain points and refused to give him performance opportunities due to his use of Yoruba, he chose not to give up.
“As I look back now, I’m grateful I didn’t stop,” he said, attributing his growth to God’s grace, self-belief, consistency, and endurance.
Today, the singer says he is proud of how far he has come, describing his journey as a testament to resilience and staying authentic despite early setbacks.
