Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has told Benfica’s Jose Mourinho that he made a “huge mistake” over the alleged racist incident involving Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius says he was racially abused by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni during their Champions League play-off in midweek, after the Brazilian winger scored the only goal of the game.
Mourinho had suggested Vinicius provoked the home fans with his goal celebration. Kompany responded: “You have the leader of an organisation, Jose Mourinho, attacking Vinicius Jr’s character by tying his celebration to discredit what Vinicius is doing. In terms of leadership, it’s a huge mistake and something we should not accept.”
