Wunmi Mosaku (born on July 31, 1986, 39 years old) is from Zaria, Nigeria, as the first child of her Yoruba parents, both of whom taught at the university level.

The following year, her family moved to Manchester, England, where she was raised in the Chorlton area. Mosaku first attended Trinity Church of England High School and later went to Xaverian Sixth Form College.
She was brought up in a matriarchal household with strong cultural traditions. Wunmi sang in the Manchester Girls Choir for more than a decade and, early on, aimed to be an opera singer before she got hooked on acting.
