‘I dumped my gold in Lagoon’- Adeboye’s Wife Shares Story of Sacrifice After Embracing Christianity

Foluke Adeboye, wife of renowned cleric Enoch Adeboye, has opened up about a major personal sacrifice she made after giving her life to Christ.

In a resurfaced throwback video currently circulating online, the pastor recounted how her lifestyle changed significantly in the early days of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

She revealed that before becoming born again, she had a strong passion for fashion and owned several gold items, including jewellery she had already set aside for her young child, who was under two years old at the time.

However, after joining the church, where wearing such items was discouraged, Mrs Adeboye decided to part with them completely.

“Every woman loves fashion,” she said. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.”

Instead of keeping or selling the valuables, Foluke said she threw all her gold possessions into a lagoon.

She recalled that a family friend questioned her decision and suggested she could have given the items to her mother to sell, but she declined.

“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she explained.

Foluke Adeboye also disclosed that she briefly turned to using copper accessories as an alternative, admitting that she spent a considerable amount on them at the time.

Despite the magnitude of her sacrifice, she said she has no regrets.

“What would I say I miss? Not much, I have already sold myself,” she added.
