‘I’m vindicated’ – Rufai Oseni Speak on Bwala–Mehdi Interview Clash

Arise TV show host Rufai Oseni has said the controversial interview involving President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Daniel Bwala, and Al Jazeera anchor Mehdi Hasan has justified his own approach to questioning guests during interviews.

The development follows Bwala’s appearance on the Head to Head programme on Al Jazeera, where he was unable to respond to several questions posed by Hasan.

Video clips from the interview quickly circulated online, generating widespread reactions across Nigeria. Some Nigerians even called for Bwala’s removal from his position, accusing him of embarrassing the country during the interview.

Reacting to the development, Oseni—who recently had an online exchange with Bwala—said critics who previously labelled him rude and unprofessional for his interview style are now applauding Hasan for using a similar approach.

According to him, “If Rufai said to his guest what research did you do before coming to the show like Medhi just did, the whole Nigerian media would go wild and say he is rude and unprofessional.

“But Medhi told his guest he didn’t prepare for the show and he said it in a condescending manner but Nigerians applauded him. I’m vindicated”.
