Nigerian gospel singer Judikay has shared the emotional pain of losing a pregnancy for the sixth time, opening up about the deeply personal experience in a video posted on Wednesday.
The singer, whose real name is Judith Kanayo-Opara, revealed that the pregnancy had progressed beyond three months before complications began.
“In February 2025, I experienced a pain that almost crushed me. I was pregnant well over three months,” she said.
Judikay explained that she initially noticed mild cramps while going about her day, followed by slight bleeding, which she first assumed was normal spotting.
However, the situation quickly escalated.
“And then trickles of blood… and I said, ‘oh spotting.’ But it didn’t stop. It became heavy,” she recalled.
The singer said she immediately understood what was happening and was overwhelmed with grief.
“I was devastated because I understood what that meant automatically,” she said, revealing it was her sixth pregnancy loss.
She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed it was a missed miscarriage and performed a Dilation and curettage (D&C).
After returning home, Judikay said she tried to process the loss by allowing herself to grieve, but found the nights especially difficult.
“In the silence of the night, I would experience a pain that I could not express,” she said. “I would wake and cry and say, ‘Jesus, where are you?’”
Despite the heartbreak, the singer—known for songs like More Than Gold—has often spoken about how her Christian faith continues to guide her through life’s challenges.
Judikay is married to Anselem Opara, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in March 2022 after tying the knot in November 2020.
Her revelation has drawn empathy from fans and fellow believers, many of whom have praised her courage in sharing such a vulnerable chapter of her life.
