Justin Timberlake Secures Temporary Court Order to Block Release of DWI Arrest Footage

Cop Who Arrested Justin Timberlake Wins Officer of the Year Award

The legal team of American pop star Justin Timberlake has secured additional time in his lawsuit against the Sag Harbor Village Police Department over the release of body camera footage from his 2024 Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrest.

A judge approved a temporary restraining order on Thursday, preventing the police department from releasing the footage for now, according to court records reviewed by Variety.

Earlier this week, Timberlake filed a lawsuit against the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, its Chief of Police Robert Drake, and the Village of Sag Harbor.

His lawyers argued that releasing the footage would cause “severe and irreparable harm” to the singer’s reputation and expose him to public ridicule and harassment. They also maintained that such a move would amount to an unwarranted invasion of his privacy.

Timberlake was arrested in June 2024 after police stopped him for allegedly weaving out of his lane and failing to obey a stop sign. The arresting officer reportedly noted that the singer’s eyes were “bloodshot” and “glassy,” and that he performed poorly during a field sobriety test.

The singer, who has been married to actress Jessica Biel for 13 years, reportedly told authorities he had consumed only one martini and declined to take a breathalyser test.

Three months after the arrest, Timberlake pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. The court ordered him to pay a $500 fine and complete between 25 and 40 hours of community service.

“I did not live up to the standards that I try to hold for myself,” Timberlake told the judge during the proceedings. “I should’ve had better judgment.”

Meanwhile, the Sag Harbor Police Department has been given until April 9 to submit documents supporting its request to release the body camera footage.
