‘My father didn’t support my music career’ – Asake

Asake Set to Perform at the 2026 Grammy Awards

Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed that his father initially opposed his decision to pursue a career in music.

Speaking during a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the “Sungba” crooner shared how his once close relationship with his father became strained over his career choice.

According to Asake, tensions arose when he decided to leave home to chase his music dreams despite his father’s disapproval.

“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he said.

It would be recalled that in March 2025, Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, made headlines after accusing the singer of neglect and abandonment.

Following public backlash, both father and son later reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his father’s welfare.
