Simi’s manager has dismissed viral social media claims that the singer and her husband, Adekunle Gold, are planning to divorce.
The rumours gained traction this week after a document circulated online, allegedly a divorce petition filed at the High Court of Lagos State.
Manager Calls Document Fake
Simi’s manager, Vincent Nwanze, described the document as fabricated and pointed to several inconsistencies.
“It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he said.
The document, dated February 28, 2026, alleged that the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down,” citing claims of emotional, financial and professional control while requesting joint custody of their child.
However, Nwanze said the errors in the paperwork clearly show it is not a legitimate court filing.
How the Rumour Spread
The speculation intensified after old social media posts linked to Simi resurfaced, with some users interpreting them as signs of possible issues in the marriage.
Fans also pointed to Adekunle Gold’s recent return to social media after a brief break as further evidence of trouble, although no confirmation has been provided by the couple.
The Couple’s Relationship
Simi and Adekunle Gold have been together for several years. They started as friends and collaborators before beginning a romantic relationship.
The pair married in January 2019 and welcomed their daughter Adejare, popularly called Deja, in 2020. Earlier in 2026, reports also suggested that the couple welcomed twins, news that was widely celebrated by fans.
They recently marked their seventh wedding anniversary, sharing affectionate messages to each other on social media.
Calls to End Online Bullying
Amid the rumours, media personality Do2dtun urged social media users to stop attacking Adekunle Gold online.
In a post on X, he wrote:
“Leave AG alone … Una carry issue turn am to assault and extreme bullying. It’s enough.”
As of now, neither Simi nor Adekunle Gold has issued a personal statement addressing the divorce speculation.
