Tinubu Returns to Lagos After UK Visit, Set for Eid Prayers at Dodan Barracks

Tinubu to Depart Abuja for State Visit to Türkiye

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Lagos following a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom.

The president and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu arrived early Friday at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where they were received by top government officials and party leaders.

Among those present were Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and the wife of the Lagos State governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

The president is expected to join Muslim faithful later in the day for Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks.

In his Eid message, Tinubu urged Muslims to carry forward the values of Ramadan into daily life.

“We have a lot to draw from the lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period,” he said.

During the UK visit, Tinubu held talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where both countries agreed on a £746 million deal to refurbish key port infrastructure in Lagos.

The president said the visit helped strengthen bilateral relations, with discussions covering trade, the economy, climate change, and security.

Tinubu and his wife were also hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where he emphasised shared values between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

“Our two nations share a vision of progress. Today, we continue that journey, committed to building a future rooted in partnership and common values,” he said.

The visit, held from March 18 to 19, marks the first by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, underscoring renewed diplomatic engagement between both countries.
