Nigerian influencer and actress Abike Shugga has revisited her alleged fallout with filmmaker Toyin Abraham, offering fresh details about the controversy that once stirred debate in Nollywood.

Abike, known for appearances in projects like Jenifa’s Diary and Agoalago, was previously criticised in 2023 over claims of ingratitude and unprofessional conduct after reports surfaced that she shifted focus between film projects.

In her latest account, she explained that her journey into Nollywood began after her time as a TV presenter, following an audition at Scene One Productions where she encountered Funke Akindele through her former husband, JJC Skillz.

Toyin Abraham Appeals to Fans Amid Ongoing Rift With Funke Akindele

According to her, her relationship with Toyin Abraham began during the COVID-19 lockdown, after a viral post about her interest in fashion design caught the actress’s attention.

She claimed Toyin reached out, supported her, and helped create opportunities, including roles and promotional work.

Abike alleged that she received modest payments for these engagements, including ₦50,000 for a two-week shoot on Agoalago, as well as smaller earnings from content collaborations.20260417 164623

However, she said tensions began when she accepted promotional work connected to Funke Akindele’s projects, which reportedly did not sit well with Toyin Abraham.

She claimed this led to strained communication, requests to delete certain posts, and, eventually, to her access to opportunities being affected.

The actress further alleged that she lost a role due to external pressure, though she did not provide specific details, maintaining that she had been building her career independently before gaining wider recognition.

“I was never picked from nowhere,” she insisted.

In earlier responses, Toyin Abraham had downplayed the controversy, describing Abike as someone she considers like a daughter and stating she would not publicly engage in the matter. She also rejected claims about significant payments allegedly made to emerging actors.

The renewed discussion has once again sparked conversations online, with fans and industry watchers revisiting the dynamics of mentorship, loyalty, and competition within Nollywood.
