“Most Young Artistes Don’t Like My Beats” – Don Jazzy Opens Up As He Praises Rema

Don Jazzy laments single status

Mavin Records boss and veteran music producer Don Jazzy has sparked conversation after opening up about working with younger artistes and the challenges that sometimes come with evolving musical tastes.

Speaking candidly, the hitmaker admitted that while he still loves producing music and making beats, many of the younger artistes he works with do not always connect with his sound the way he expects.

“I still enjoy making beats but most of the young artistes I have don’t really like my beats,” he revealed.

His comments have drawn attention as they offer a rare glimpse into the realities of staying creatively relevant in a constantly changing music industry.

Despite the challenge, Don Jazzy also shared a moment of joy, recalling how excited he was when Afrobeats star Rema connected with one of his productions.

According to him, Rema’s reaction to the beat for Booty Bounce meant a lot to him.

“When Rema said he liked the beat for Booty Bounce I was so happy,” he said.

The producer’s remarks reflect not only how much the soundscape of Nigerian music continues to evolve, but also how rewarding it remains for established producers when their work resonates with emerging stars.

For many fans, the comments also highlight Don Jazzy’s humility, especially as one of the most influential producers in African music admitting that even he faces moments of creative rejection.

His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many praising his honesty while others pointed to his continued impact in shaping some of the biggest stars in Afrobeats.

Even with changing tastes, Don Jazzy’s comments suggest his passion for making music remains intact, especially when younger talents like Rema still connect with his sound.
