The ongoing family dispute surrounding late singer Mohbad has taken a fresh turn as his widow, Wunmi Aloba, publicly responded to allegations made by his father, Joseph Aloba, regarding a DNA test.
In a strongly worded statement, Wunmi insisted that Mohbad’s father must comply with court directives if any meaningful progress is to be made, warning that failure to follow due legal process could drag the matter into a prolonged courtroom battle.
She made it clear that the authority now lies within the legal system, stressing that any next step would require proper adherence to court orders.
“What the court asked you to do, beg me. Refusing to comply with court orders means we’re in for a long battle,” she stated, adding that the truth would remain consistent regardless of whether the case proceeds through the High Court in Ikeja or even the Court of Appeal.
Addressing the controversy over the proposed DNA test, Wunmi firmly countered claims that she had resisted the process. According to her, she had always supported conducting the test and had even pushed for it from the beginning.
She also dismissed accusations that she selected an unverified hospital for the procedure, describing the claim as false and one she deliberately chose not to respond to earlier.
“My people have been trying to make you see that I was the one who asked for a DNA test, but you never believed them,” she said. “Now that the truth is out, I hope it has been established.”
Wunmi further noted that if she had initially refused the DNA test, there would have been no progress in the matter at all.
The dispute continues to draw public attention as both sides exchange claims, with the issue of paternity involving Mohbad’s son, Liam, remaining at the center of the controversy.
