“They Chased Me to Government House” — B-Red Recounts Narrow Escape as Osun Govt Alleges Assassination Attempt

B-Red Recounts Narrow Escape as Osun Govt Alleges Assassination Attempt

A routine trip through Osogbo turned into a tense chase for Nigerian singer B Red, after what the Osun State Government has described as a suspected assassination attempt near the Government House. The incident, which reportedly unfolded in broad daylight, has since raised serious concerns about security and political tensions in the state.

B-Red, whose real name is Adebayo Adeleke, is also known as Davido’s cousin and the son of Ademola Adeleke. His proximity to both the entertainment industry and political circles has added further attention to the unfolding situation.

According to an official statement issued on April 30, 2026, by Osun State’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the incident occurred around Oke Fia in Osogbo.

The government alleged that a group of hoodlums, reportedly led by an individual identified as Asiri Eniba, attempted to attack the singer while he was driving through the area.

Recounting the experience, B Red explained that the situation began shortly after he left Alekuwodo Market, where he had gone to purchase a few items.

While navigating traffic beneath the Oke Fia Bridge, he noticed a group of commercial motorcyclists wearing AMBO-branded caps attempting to surround his vehicle.

The atmosphere quickly shifted from unusual to threatening. According to him, a white Toyota Venza then approached his car, and one of the occupants shouted words that suggested he had been identified, triggering what he described as an immediate escalation.

What followed was a coordinated pursuit. B Red said both the vehicle and the motorcyclists began chasing him, repeatedly attempting to block his path as he tried to leave the area. The chase reportedly stretched through multiple streets, creating a tense and dangerous situation.

He eventually found safety by driving into the Osun State Government House at Oke Fia, where the security presence provided immediate protection and brought the pursuit to an end.

During the incident, B Red claimed he recognized one of the individuals in the pursuing vehicle as Asiri Eniba, whom he described as a known political enforcer linked to the opposition party.

That allegation has since added a political dimension to what might otherwise have been treated as a criminal incident.

The Osun State Government has taken a firm stance on the matter, labeling it a serious security threat and confirming that the case has been reported to law enforcement authorities. Commissioner Kolapo Alimi called on security agencies to act swiftly, urging the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved.

The development has sparked concern not just because of the individuals involved but also due to the location and nature of the incident. An alleged attack occurring so close to a government facility, and involving a high-profile figure, raises broader questions about safety and political tension within the state.

As of now, there has been no official response from the accused individuals, and investigations are expected to determine the full details surrounding the incident.

For B Red, the experience marks a close call that could have ended very differently. For observers, it highlights the increasingly blurred lines between entertainment, politics, and security in Nigeria’s public space.

The coming days will likely determine how authorities handle the situation, but the incident has already left a lasting impression, reinforcing concerns about safety even in areas considered secure.
