Tiwi Remi, wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, has revealed why she completely stepped away from social media platforms long before marrying the movie star.
Speaking on her newly launched YouTube podcast, Bare by BKO, Tiwi disclosed that she uses only LinkedIn and does not maintain active accounts on Instagram, TikTok, or X.
According to her, many people are often shocked whenever they discover she is largely absent from social media despite being married to a public figure.
Tiwi explained that her decision was deeply personal and connected to self-discovery and purpose.
“So the big response for why I was not on social media was that I had no idea who I was and what I was meant to be contributing to other people,” she said.
“And therefore, I didn’t feel like being online and using my influence in a lukewarm way was enough to justify spending so much time on an app.”
She also revealed that she later came to believe her digital absence may have been preparing her for marriage to someone with a strong public image.
“I also didn’t know at the time that God was cleaning out my digital footprint because of the person I was going to marry,” she stated.
“I had no idea I was going to marry this superstar who had such a strong public image with limited controversy.”
Tiwi said the reality of her absence from social media became more obvious after her marriage to Kunle Remi.
“When I got married to my husband, I was told by one of my girlfriends that everyone’s getting notifications all around the world, and Tiwi is getting zero,” she recalled.
She further disclosed that she does not even have social media apps installed on her personal phone and only occasionally checks platforms through her husband’s device when necessary.
“I am not on any social media channels, except for LinkedIn,” she said.
“I don’t have a burner page or pages.”
Kunle Remi and Tiwi publicly unveiled their relationship in January 2024 before holding their traditional and white wedding ceremonies in Ibadan and Lagos.
In March 2025, the couple announced the birth of their first child, Eemi Oluwa, after what the actor previously described as a difficult medical journey involving extended bed rest and neonatal intensive care support.
