Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has set a new milestone by becoming the African artist with the highest number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The achievement comes after the singer secured a fresh entry through his collaboration with Colombian music star Shakira on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem, Dai Dai.
The song debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, pushing Burna Boy’s total number of chart entries to nine and moving him ahead of fellow Nigerian Grammy winner Tems, who previously shared the record with eight entries.
With the latest achievement, Burna Boy now holds the distinction of being the African artist with the most appearances on the prestigious U.S. singles chart.
Dai Dai has enjoyed significant global attention following its debut performance at the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony, where Burna Boy and Shakira delivered a high-energy rendition before millions of viewers worldwide.
The milestone also marks another historic achievement for the Afrobeats star, who has now become the first African artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years.
Since first breaking onto the chart, Burna Boy has continued to strengthen his international presence through solo releases and collaborations with global artists.
His Billboard Hot 100 entries include:
Loved By You (2021)
Last Last (2022)
Sittin’ On Top Of The World (2023)
Talibans II (2023)
Just Like Me (2024)
We Pray (2024)
WGFT (2025)
Only You (2026)
Dai Dai (2026)
The latest record further highlights Burna Boy’s growing influence on the global music scene and the increasing international recognition of Afrobeats.
Over the past few years, the singer has consistently expanded his audience beyond Africa, performing at major international events, collaborating with world-renowned artists, and earning multiple awards and chart achievements.
While Tems remains one of Africa’s most successful global exports, Burna Boy’s latest Billboard entry places him alone at the top of the continent’s Hot 100 rankings.
The achievement is another reminder of how African music continues to gain mainstream acceptance worldwide, with Nigerian artists leading much of that global movement.
