Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, a veteran Nigerian actress and former model, has taken to social media to respond, revealing that she has never gotten any residuals from Nollywood in her 28 years in the industry and has been in over 300 films.
The actress, who moved to the United States with her family, made this public as she displayed the first residual check she earned after only a year in Hollywood.
Omotola wrote: “I’ve worked in Nollywood for 28 years… Never received residuals for over 300+ movies shot… Barely 1 year active in Hollywood… I’ve received my first residual check…”
Omotola was introduced into acting in Nollywood while accompanying a friend of hers to an audition.
However, she had her first acting role in the movie, ‘Venom of Justice’ in 1995.
She was given the lead role in the film and over the years, she has appeared in numerous Nollywood films, selling millions of copies.
