Nollywood star and filmmaker, Iyabo Ojo, has expressed her belief that extreme hardship is the primary cause of the increasing insecurity in Nigeria.
In addition, she believes that acute depression and drug abuse are detrimental factors leading to the prevalence of irrational behavior and poor mental health in society.
Iyabo Ojo shared her observations on the popular photo and video sharing platform, Instagram, noting that the countless messages she receives from individuals seeking assistance serves as evidence of these unfortunate circumstances.
Due to the overwhelming volume of messages, she has decided to stop reading her direct messages (DMs) in order to protect her own mental well-being.
However, Iyabo Ojo still hopes that the government will be granted wisdom to take prompt and appropriate action before it becomes too late.
The movie star said;
Hardship, causing acute depression, insomnia, an increase in drug intake, which is amounting to the huge volume of insecurity, irrational behaviour, and mental health in our society.
“My DM is a testimonial to these facts. Henceforth, I have to stop reading my DM’s to protect my sanity. May God grant our government the wisdom to do right by their people before it is too late”.
