The Norwegian football community is grieving the loss of Archange Defrignan Mondou, a 19-year-old midfielder from Ivory Coast who tragically passed away.
Mondou, also known as Achilles, played for Eliteserien club HamKam and was discovered unresponsive at his home in Hamar, Norway.
HamKam shared the heartbreaking news and offered their condolences to Mondou’s family and friends.
The cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.
HamKam’s general manager, Bent Svele, described the situation as a “very difficult day for everyone affected.”
The Police have confirmed that there is nothing suspicious about Mondou’s death, although an autopsy has been requested.
In September, Mondou had to temporarily step away from football after an incident during training that resulted in a hospitalization for a medical assessment, as reported by UK Sun Sport.
