First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, aged 64, stated that she is unafraid of death threats from any source.
Her comments came in response to a viral video in which an unknown Islamic preacher in Bauchi State called for her death due to her Christian beliefs.
The preacher also criticized the Muslim/Muslim ticket that led to President Bola Tinubu’s election.
During a visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Adamu, and the inauguration of projects in the state,Remi Tinubu clarified that she remains undeterred by the threats on her life.
“I want to thank His Excellency (Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed),” she stated.
“He keeps assuring me that I am safe in Bauchi. But I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God has granted me over 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t be afraid of death.
“I thank God that you encouraged me to come. Nigeria belongs to all of us and this is the time for us to unite more than ever before.”
Governor Mohammed condemned the death threats, calling them a disgrace to the nation.
He expressed shock at the preacher’s remarks and assured Remi Tinubu of her safety in Bauchi, promising to take appropriate action against the cleric responsible for the threat.
