Dani Alves, the former Brazil defender, has posted €1 million bail and is free to leave jail while he awaits his appeal, as announced by the court on Monday.
“We hereby inform you that the deposit of Daniel Alves’ bail has been registered in the accounts of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court,” the statement read.
In February, Dani Alves was found guilty of rape in Spain and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
As part of the conditions for his release, Alves must surrender both his Spanish and Brazilian passports and will be required to stay in Spain, reporting to court weekly.
