Initially, the Nigerian government had scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday for the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

However, due to the inability to sight the crescent moon on Monday, the holidays were extended to include Thursday.

Saudi Arabia and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, had already declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid el-Fitr based on the sighting of the crescent moon.
