Elon Musk, the owner of micro-blogging site X, has issued a warning to users about engaging in engagement farming.
Elon Musk has stated that any account found participating in this practice will be subject to suspension if immediate corrective action is not taken.
Posting on X, he wrote: “Any accounts doing engagement farming will be suspended and traced to source.”
Engagement farming occurs when users seek to increase their engagement on social media platforms.
This can involve participating in numerous Twitter spaces simultaneously without providing any meaningful content, solely to promote themselves.
Many users utilize engagement farming to boost their followers, likes, comments, and retweets, ultimately enhancing their personal brand.
Influencers often partake in this practice by joining groups with other influencers to reciprocally engage with each other’s content.
Members of these groups are expected to like and comment on each other’s posts whenever they are shared via messaging services like Instagram DMs or Whatsapp.
