Aubameyang joined Chelsea from Barcelona during the summer of 2022 and experienced a turbulent season at Stamford Bridge.
The player from Gabon, who had departed Arsenal for Barcelona just half a year earlier, moved from Stamford Bridge to Olympique Marseille last summer.
He was brought to the team by the recommendation of the then-manager Thomas Tuchel, who ended his collaboration with the German manager.
Encountering difficulties in leaving a significant impression for the duration of the season, he was removed from their UEFA Champions League squad.
Aubameyang shared his experiences at Stamford Bridge with L’Equipe.
“I understood from December, that the season was over, I already wanted to leave, but you can’t play for more than three clubs,” he said.
“I asked myself: is this what it means to be old? And I answered: It’s you who decides. Either you decide to follow this path and say to yourself maybe it’s old age. Or you say, no, that’s bullsh*t, I still have things to do.
“I was disappointed and jaded, I got a little… ‘lost,’ that’s a big word, but I let myself go.”
