Amaju Melvin Pinnick, former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has stated his preference for foreign coaches.
During his leadership, Pinnick appointed Gernot Rohr from Franco-German to coach the Super Eagles, and Randy Waldrum from America to manage the Super Falcons.
Pinnick, who now serves as a FIFA council member, explained that he lacks confidence in local coaches due to a perceived lack of respect towards them by the players.
“Yes, the Nigerian coaches have the requisite knowledge and the technical ability, but modern football is beyond that in managing players.
“Will the national team players respect the coach? The sad thing is that they don’t,” he said in an interview on Arise TV.
The NFF is currently in search of a foreign coach to lead the Super Eagles.
