Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed his sadness after Spain’s victory over England in the Euro 2024 final on July 14.
He mentioned feeling sorrowful because Arsenal players such as Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice were part of the England squad that was defeated by Spain.
Arteta shared his sentiments before Arsenal’s pre-season match against Bournemouth, stating that he cares deeply for his players and wants the best for them.
He acknowledged that it was a difficult moment for them to lose the final, as Spain emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over England in Germany.
“I’m extremely proud of my country [Spain], and it was a great moment for us to win [the Euro 2024],” Arteta said as quoted by Arsenal’s website.
“This generation had to really earn it in the last few years to get that belief. At the same time, I was sad because you love your players and you want the best for them, and it was a tough moment for them.”
