Portugal’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has confidently declared that winning the World Cup is not a necessity for him.
The 39-year-old made this statement during a press briefing after scoring his 900th career goal in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring for his team, with Ronaldo adding a second goal with a well-taken volley.
When asked about what else he wants to achieve in his career after the game, he said: “Portugal winning Euros is equivalent to winning a World Cup.
“I’ve already won two trophies for Portugal that I really wanted. I’m not motivated by that.
“I’m motivated by enjoying football and the records come naturally.”
