EPL: Man City face losing points ‘across multiple seasons’ over 115 charges

Manchester City crush Fulham 4-0 to pile pressure on Arsenal

According to the UK Telegraph, there is a proposal for Manchester City to face a points deduction “across multiple seasons” as they approach their 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges case.

Top-flight clubs believe that a single points deduction would be sufficient punishment if City are found guilty, even if it leads to their relegation from the Premier League.

A ‘senior figure’ in football has suggested the idea of spreading the points deduction over multiple seasons in order to prevent Pep Guardiola’s team from quickly returning to the top of the table and challenging for trophies.

The case hearing, set to begin on Monday, is expected to span 10 weeks.

Manchester City was charged by the Premier League in February 2023 for alleged offenses spanning from 2009 to 2018, a period in which they achieved numerous league titles and domestic trophies.
