Tinubu returns to Nigeria after Netherlands, Saudi trips

The presidency refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu instructed Yemi Cardoso to step down as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga stated that the reports were false and described them as a collection of lies.

Contrary to rumors, Tinubu did not give any directive to Cardoso before traveling to China, despite alleged pressure from Yoruba leaders to retain him in his position.

“It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign,” Onanuga said.

Cardoso has been facing criticism for failing to effectively address economic issues and stabilize the Naira.
