Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello begs Tinubu to intervene in case with EFCC

Yahaya Bello

The Media Office of the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has formally requested President Bola Tinubu to exert his influence to resolve the ongoing dispute between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the former governor.

In a statement duly signed by Ohiare Michael, the media office expressed its disapproval of the EFCC’s actions, characterizing its recent statements and activities as prejudiced.

The office implored President Tinubu to take action in this regard, advocating for the necessity of maintaining an unbiased approach in the anti-corruption efforts.

According to Michael, the strategy employed by the anti-graft agency in its attempt to detain the former governor was more akin to an “embarrassment” for the agency, contending that this initiative was motivated by undisclosed personal and political agendas rather than a sincere endeavor to combat corruption.

“If the EFCC was truly interested in prosecution, would the agency not have taken him in on that day?” the office inquired.

This came after the EFCC declared Bello wanted after his recent visit to their office.

Recall that the former governor had on September 19, showed up at the agency’s premises in the company of Governor Ododo and some high-profile personalities.
