Danny Welbeck’s match-winning heroics for Brighton against Newcastle ended prematurely as the forward was stretchered off with a back injury.
The 33-year-old opened the score at St James’ Park, propelling the Seagulls to back-to-back Premier League wins.
However, his day took a turn in the 77th minute following a minor collision with Newcastle defender Fabian Schar.
Welbeck looked to tweak his back and requested medical treatment, taking oxygen before being stretchered away.
He was replaced by Jan Paul van Hecke.
Welbeck has had an impressive start to the season, scoring five goals so far—matching his total tally from the entire 2023/24 campaign.
