An Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos has granted the police permission to remand Brila FM’s former chief accountant, Ekerete Sunday, for 21 days to complete the investigation into the alleged N100 million fraud.

Magistrate B. A. Sonuga issued the order after prosecutor Friday Mameh claimed that Mr Sunday formed a similar radio station while working for Brila FM without the permission of its creator, Larry Izamoje, and stole more than N100 million from Brila FM to several accounts.

Mameh contended that the police took the defendant to court and requested a remand order to detain him at the police station to prepare for arresting other suspects outside Lagos.

He said that after the investigation is concluded the defendant will be charged at a high court.

Mameh said the arraignment of the suspect by the office of the commissioner of police through the Force Intelligence Department in Obalende was inevitable to avoid a breach of the suspect’s constitutional right to liberty.
