Buckingham Palace reported that Queen Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, has been diagnosed with a chest infection and will withdraw from her scheduled activities this week.
On Thursday, the Duchess of Gloucester will replace the 77-year-old Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey’s annual Field of Remembrance opening.
Camilla has also canceled her attendance at a Buckingham Palace reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes hosted by King Charles III on the same evening.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson shared, “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”
They added that, with regret, Camilla will miss her planned engagements this week but hopes to recover in time for this weekend’s Remembrance events.
She apologizes to those affected by her absence.
While no further details about her condition have been provided, Camilla is reportedly resting privately at home under medical supervision.
