Sinikiwe Mhlongo, a social media personality and content producer, was detained for driving dangerously and at high speeds in Fourways, Johannesburg. According to City Press, Mhlongo, known for her bright social media presence, was freed on R1000 bail after being held at Sandton Police Station.
Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, a police spokesperson, confirmed Mhlongo’s arrest and appearance before Randburg Magistrates Court.
“I can confirm that the suspect appeared in court on 11 November 2024, and you can get the outcome from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA),” according to her.
City Press reached out to NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane for further details, but there was no response by the time of publication.According to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Mhlongo was allegedly caught speeding at 180 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near Fourways Gardens estate.
Officers involved in the arrest stated that Mhlongo was tested for alcohol after reportedly resisting arrest, claiming her status as a celebrity.
An officer shared, “During the operation, officials also arrested more than 52 suspects for similar charges and driving under the influence of alcohol, which is a common fact when it comes to reckless driving.”
