Gov Okpebholo constitutes 14-man panel to probe Obaseki

I’ll probe Obaseki’s administration – Okpebholo

The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced the formation of a 14-member State Assets Verification Committee to investigate the previous administration led by former governor Godwin Obaseki.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, revealed this in a statement released in Benin on Sunday. The committee members will be officially inaugurated on Tuesday, November 26, according to Itua.

The committee includes Dr. Ernest Umakhihe as Chairman, Anslem Ojezua as Deputy Chairman, and Frank Edebor as Secretary. Other members include Prince Kassim Afegbua, Patrick Ikhariale, and Taiwo Akerele.

Additional members are Patrick Idiake, Rasaq Bello-Osagie, Fredrick Unopah, Mrs. Abdallah Eugenia, Patrick Obahiagbon, Kenny Okojie, Mrs. Lyndsey Tes-Sorae, and Abass Braimoh.

Itua stated that the committee was established to ensure transparency and accountability in leadership to facilitate the development of the state.

“Despite repeated calls for a more holistic database of the Assets and Liabilities of the previous administration, the Godwin Obaseki-led government came up with very scanty and limited assets and liabilities of the state.

“In line with the governor’s campaign promise to ensure probity, accountability and transparency in government, and to deepen the governance process, committee made up of respected sons and daughters from Edo State has to be constituted,” the statement said.
