Liverpool’s maestro, Arne Slot, playfully quipped on Tuesday regarding the 115 allegations directed at Manchester City while musing over Mohamed Salah’s impending future.
Salah finds himself in the twilight of his current contract with the Reds, with only six months remaining.
Following a stellar performance that saw him score and assist in their 2-0 triumph over City on Sunday, the 32-year-old candidly acknowledged that it could very well be his last showdown against Pep Guardiola’s squad at Anfield.
Arne Slot was probed about these remarks in the lead-up to their expedition to Newcastle United.
The Dutchman replied: “Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 accusations, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season.”
But Slot quickly added: “It was a joke – I repeat, it was a joke!”
City is ensnared in a labyrinthine legal dispute with the Premier League concerning their alleged 115 financial infractions, all of which they categorically refute.
The saga is poised to drag on without resolution until the latter part of 2025, should any appeals emerge against the ultimate decision.
