Faithia Balogun has accused an anonymous individual, generally assumed to be her colleague Funke Akindele, of blocking her on Instagram just hours after they unfollowed each other.
According to reports, Funke unfollowed Faithia first, supposedly because Faithia turned down Funke’s movie premiere but went to Mercy Aigbe’s event.
Faithia’s absence was retaliation for Funke’s refusal to attend her father’s funeral despite being invited.
Faithia addressed the issue on her TikTok page, but did not name names.
In Yoruba, she said, “They said you blocked me. If you block me on earth, can you block me in heaven? If you block me, will the God I serve and pray to also block me?” Faithia further hinted that she was unbothered by the “petty act.”
The fallout has sparked reactions from netizens.
A user named Temitope commented, “If she blocked you, move on now. Why do people like drama? Very unnecessary disturbance.”
Another user Sal Wah, described Funke Akindele as “the Wizkid of Nollywood.”
Salami Oluwaseun added, “You don’t need this drama right now. Block each other and move on.”
Many are surprised by the rift, as Faithia actively supported Funke last year, creating content to promote her A Tribe Called Judah movie.
This isn’t the first time Funke has faced public fallouts with colleagues.
Years ago, she and Iyabo Ojo clashed after Iyabo called her out over a blogger’s criticism of Toyin Abraham’s movie, The Ghost and the Tout.
The two however reconciled in 2022 at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where they exchanged hugs and pecks.
Neither Faithia nor Funke has directly addressed the ongoing speculation.
