A judge in New York has decided to keep the identity of the woman who accused Jay-Z, real name Sean Carter, of raping her when she was 13 years old confidential.
This ruling was made after Jay-Z’s lawyer pushed for her name to be made public.
Judge Analisa Torres criticized Alex Spiro for his aggressiveness and attempt to speed up the legal process after filing a request to reject the alleged victim’s wish to remain anonymous.
“Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client,” Torres said.
“The Court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it.”
The woman, known only as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, claims that Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs raped her at an after-party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
According to court documents, the woman states that she was asked to sign a confidentiality agreement upon arriving at the after-party residence. She alleges that she was then drugged after consuming a drink and assaulted by Combs and Carter while an unidentified female celebrity watched.
