The Nigerian Federal Government is poised to receive $52.88 million in Galactica assets recovered from former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, as announced by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
The formal signing ceremony of the asset agreement took place in Abuja on Friday.
“This marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between Nigeria and the United States to combat corruption and uphold the rule of law, Fagbemi said, highlighting it as part of President Bola Tinubu’s strategy to address corruption.
Fagbemi disclosed that $50 million will be channeled through the World Bank to aid rural electrification projects, with the remaining $2 million allocated to the International Institute of Justice to bolster the justice system and anti-corruption measures.
