Robert Lewandowski has inked a new deal with Barcelona following a crucial performance in the team’s recent victory over Las Palmas.
The Polish striker had a clause in his contract specifying that it could be terminated in 2025 if he didn’t meet a specified playing time threshold. However, his consistent appearances under Hansi Flick ensured that his contract automatically extended until 2026.
Since joining Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022, the 36-year-old has been in stellar form, scoring an impressive 91 goals in 130 matches. With 32 goals already this season, he is on track to surpass his previous best tally of 33 for the club.
Despite rumors of retirement, it seems Lewandowski is set to continue playing at the highest level, with reports suggesting he could see out his career at Barcelona.
Fans can expect to see the seasoned forward in action in Barcelona’s upcoming Copa del Rey semi-final first leg clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
