Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has taken a strong stance against internal leaks, dismissing 20 employees for sharing confidential company information with the media.

The crackdown follows reports of private discussions from Meta’s internal meetings surfacing in the media. Zuckerberg, frustrated by the repeated leaks, warned employees that he may withhold certain information moving forward.

“We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks. It sucks,” he reportedly said in a meeting—only for his remarks to leak again.

Meta has faced internal dissent, particularly over policy changes that critics claim align with the new Trump administration, such as scrapping DEI initiatives and reducing fact-checking efforts in favor of community notes similar to X (formerly Twitter).

Chief Information Security Officer Guy Rosen highlighted the impact of leaks, stating that they demoralize teams and waste valuable time. Meanwhile, Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth acknowledged that Meta was making progress in identifying leakers—a statement that, ironically, was also leaked.
