Arsenal Crush PSV 7-1 in Historic Champions League Knockout Win

Arsenal delivered a record-breaking performance in Eindhoven, dismantling PSV 7-1 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

This victory marks Arsenal’s biggest-ever away win in the Champions League knockout stage, putting them on the brink of the quarter-finals.

  • Jurrien Timber opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a header from Declan Rice’s cross.
  • Moments later, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly combined to double the lead.
  • Mikel Merino capitalized on a defensive error to make it 3-0 before halftime.
  • PSV pulled one back via a Noa Lang penalty, following a foul by Thomas Partey.
  • Arsenal responded immediately in the second half, with Martin Ødegaard and Leandro Trossard scoring in quick succession.
  • Ødegaard grabbed his brace in the 73rd minute, while Riccardo Calafiori sealed the rout in the 85th.

Mikel Arteta’s side ruthlessly exposed PSV’s defensive frailties, putting an end to their recent attacking struggles.

With a six-goal cushion, Arsenal have all but secured their place in the quarter-finals, where they could face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in a much tougher test.
