Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest man, recently revealed his reason for inviting Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy to his mansion in a report that has been circulating online.
During the ongoing Ramadan, Dangote and Burna Boy enjoyed a meal together at Dangote’s home.
The invitation came after Burna Boy, along with Wizkid, had visited fellow billionaire Femi Otedola’s home, as well as Flytime CEO Cecil Hammond.
In a post shared by Music Base Africa on Facebook, he explained that he only recently discovered that Burna Boy had released a song titled “Dangote” six years ago. Impressed by the song, Africa’s Richest Man reached out to Burna Boy’s team and extended an invitation to him.
Despite his busy schedule, Dangote made time to host Burna Boy and expressed his admiration for the singer’s work. It was a memorable evening for both of them as they bonded over their shared Nigerian heritage and love for music.
Dangote said a “Thank You” to Burna Boy stressing that he is honoured that his handwork inspired Afrobeats legend like Burna Boy to use his name to sing a song.
In his words; “I only got to listen to the song you released about me last week and I immediately told my team to send you an invitation. Discovered you released it years ago but I’m just so busy with business that I don’t have spare time for music haha. But thank you. Honored that my hardwork inspired a song from a high profile African music legend like you. Let’s have some dinner.”
