Controversial Nigerian musician, Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been handed a three-month prison sentence.
The sentence was delivered by Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo in Ogun State.
Back in April 2023, Portable faced the Magistrates’ Court in Ifo on a three-count charge involving assault and the theft of musical equipment, as detailed in charge sheet No. MIF/192C/2023.
He was later granted bail set at N300,000, with two sureties required to be close family members.
Reports indicate that the singer appeared in court last Thursday and was remanded due to his repeated failure to attend earlier court sessions despite several adjournments.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Olumide Awoleke, stated that Portable committed the offence on November 18, 2022, around 11 a.m. in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.
Chief Magistrate Ilo found him guilty on counts 1 and 2, sentencing him to one month in prison with an option of a N10,000 fine for Count 1, and two months in prison with an option of a N20,000 fine for Count 2.
