VeryDarkMan Arrested in Abuja After Exposing GTBank Over Alleged Unauthorized Deductions

Nigerian influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reportedly been arrested by police in Abuja following his public criticism of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over repeated, unauthorized deductions from his mother’s bank account.

According to his lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, the arrest occurred at Area 3, Abuja, shortly after the influencer demanded transparency regarding loan repayments his mother allegedly never took.

“My client was arrested simply for speaking out about repeated debits from his mother’s account,” Adeyanju said.

Before his arrest, VeryDarkMan had shared screenshots of suspicious transactions, revealing that over seven unexplained deductions had occurred in 2025 alone.

He also disclosed that he and his mother had visited a GTBank branch in Abuja to demand an account statement and trace the origin of the deductions.

As of this report, neither GTBank nor the Nigeria Police Force has issued an official statement regarding the arrest.

He wrote, “My mom and I went to GTBank to understand why they keep deducting money from her account in the name of loan repayments she never took. We’ve already seen over seven deductions this year alone. We’ve asked for her bank statements to trace where and when it all started. The staff were cooperating, and we hoped to find answers.”
