President Bola Tinubu admitted that he was close to avoiding the media entirely when he first took office as president.
He expressed feeling disheartened by the economic conditions in the country and considered avoiding newspapers and news altogether.
Nonetheless, he now sees a positive shift in the country’s economic situation.
Speaking in Katsina State over the weekend, Tinubu said: “Nigeria is a success, the economy is turning around, it has bent the corner.
“When we started, it was challenging, and I almost ran away from watching or reading the newspapers.
“I got discouraged and stayed put on my decisions, believing that the ability of a leader to take decisions at the right time is the hallmark of leadership.
“We took it and stayed with it, and it will be rewarding, it’s already bearing fruits.”
