Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is set to speak and apologise to supporters at Old Trafford following Sunday’s Premier League final match against Aston Villa.
The 2024/25 season is widely seen as one of the club’s lowest points in recent memory, marred by a poor domestic showing and a painful Europa League exit at the hands of Tottenham. In response, Amorim has chosen to take responsibility publicly before the home fans.
During his pre-match press conference, Amorim stated that his message after the game will be “an apology,” calling it “tradition” and “the least I can do.”
The Portuguese manager further remarked, “It will be the biggest mistake if we don’t do that… I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart.”
United’s failure to secure Champions League qualification for a second year running has increased scrutiny on the former Sporting CP manager, who assumed his role earlier in the year.
While there have been occasional signs of progress, the team’s struggles have drawn criticism, with attention now turning to an expected major squad overhaul this summer.
Sources suggest the club is nearing a deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, with additional signings anticipated as Amorim works to rebuild the team and revive Manchester United’s competitive edge.
